Episode 114 – Sri Lanka -Elephants!

Episode 114 – Thanks to Ed for his review of Sri Lanka.  He was there the first two weeks of December, and it was hot and humid.  His travel time from the United States was about 25 hours.  He stayed at the Hilton Colombo, and would recommend the hotel.  His tour of Columbo in the tuk-tuk looked something like this:  Lotus Tower, Galle Face Hotel (oldest in Columbo 1864), Seema Malaka Temple, Gangaramaya Temple, and the Sri Lankan White House.   Ed’s weekend sightseeing to the Elephants started at Dambulla Royal Cave Temple (watchout for monkeys), he stayed at EKHO Sigiriya hotel, and that is where the Sigiriya Ancient City world UNESCO heritage site is at.  Then 20KM away is the Minneriya National Park where you can see elephants in the wild.  They also drove through Knuckles mountain rain forest.  As for ed’s beach excursion he was in the city of Galle, which is south of Columbo.  He stayed at Villa Watuna, and told us about Jungle Beach nearby.
